Track Day Safety Gear
Requirements

2WTD wants everyone to enjoy the experience of riding at the racetrack with our staff and motorcycle family. Wearing the correct safety gear while on the racetrack is like the insurance you have on car, you hope you don't have to use it, but if you do, you'll be glad you have it. Here is what we're looking for and/or recommend when it comes to gear.

2WTD TRACKDAY GEAR GUIDE

Helmet

At a minimum your helmet should be DOT approved. However along with DOT, we recommend wearing a SNELL or ECE certification which includes significant additional testing and an elevated safety rating. Your helmet should be no older than 5 years old. Scratches and light scapes are okay but damaged and cracked helmets are not allowed. Please give your head the best possible protection as new ones are not available trackside.

Racing Suit

2WTD recommends one piece leather suits. However a two-piece is also permitted. Two-piece suits must zip together fully. High quality ballistic nylon two-piece suits are acceptable in C group only. These suits must have padded and reinforced hips, knees, elbows and shoulders but again this is not recommended for track use.

Gloves

Gloves should be full length “gauntlet style” that fully cover the wrist. Gloves should overlap your suit and be free from damage that could unravel if you happen to go down.

Boots

Over the ankle boots up to the calves are required. No riding "shoes," cowboy boots or work boots. Boots must overlap your riding suit. Over or under the suit boots (Dainese) are great for track days.

Spine Protector

Most modern day leather suits and jackets will come with a CE-approved foam insert that is made to provide the minimum level of back protection. While this is acceptable to ride with on the race track we highly recommend a CE Level-2 back protector since CE Level-1 back armor isn’t sufficiently protective against minor blows to the rib cage that can cause fractures (and potentially puncture the lungs).
